WRC Rally Chile Finishes in Talcahuano on Sunday: Where to Watch the Last Stages

If you are in Concepcion this weekend you do not need a ticket to see a world championship rally. You need to know which road to stand beside, and when.

Rally Chile reaches its final day on Sunday, and you can watch a round of the world championship for nothing. That is the part most visitors do not realise about the sport.

The event is round 12 of the 2026 FIA World Rally Championship. It has been running since Wednesday and finishes on Sunday 13 September.

It is based in the Biobío region, around Concepción. Rally HQ, the media centre and the service park are at the MDS Hotel Concepción in Talcahuano.

How Sunday Works

Cars leave the service park at about 7.20 in the morning for the final loop. That is the last section of the rally.

The Power Stage runs after 1.15pm. It is the closing stage of the weekend and carries bonus championship points for the five fastest drivers.

The official finish is in Talcahuano after 3.10pm. The podium and prize-giving are scheduled from around 3.30pm.

Times in rallying move. Stages are cancelled for safety, road sections run long, and the schedule shifts with them.

Where You Can Actually Stand

Special stages are closed public roads with designated spectator areas. Those are the only places you may watch from, and they are marked and marshalled.

Standing anywhere else on a stage is dangerous and will get you removed. Cars pass at speeds that leave no margin, and escape roads are exactly where a car goes when something fails.

The service park is the easier option for anyone with children. At most rallies you can walk among the teams while cars are worked on between loops.

Bring cash, water and a hat. Chilean forest roads in September are cold in the morning and dusty by afternoon.

Arrive early. Spectator areas fill long before the first car, and the access roads close once the stage goes live.

Who Is Winning

Oliver Solberg led the overall classification at the end of Friday. BioBioChile reported him winning the sixth stage, Hualqui 2.

Elfyn Evans was second and Adrien Fourmaux third at that point. Saturday’s running will have changed those positions.

Do not plan a day around one driver. Retirement in rallying is routine and a leader on Friday may not start Sunday.

The official WRC timing service is the only reliable source during an event. Local radio in Concepción carries stage results too.

Getting There

Concepción is about 500 kilometres south of Santiago. It has an airport with frequent domestic flights and a long-distance bus service that runs overnight.

The drive from Santiago takes six to seven hours on Route 5. Hire cars sell out around a rally weekend, so book before travelling.

Talcahuano adjoins Concepción and is its port. The service park is reachable by local bus or a short taxi ride from central Concepción.

Accommodation during a rally weekend is tight and priced accordingly. If you are reading this on Saturday, assume Concepción is full and look at Chiguayante or Coronel.

The rally leaves on Sunday afternoon and the region goes quiet. Biobío is worth a few days on its own, with Lota’s coal mining museum and the coastal road south.

Concepción itself is a university city rather than a tourist one. That means good cheap food and almost no English on menus.

The next round of the championship leaves South America entirely. Chile is the only stop on the continent in the current calendar.
