Brazil could be self-sufficient in wheat within 10 years -Embrapa

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Brazil can become self-sufficient in the production of wheat for consumption within ten years.

This statement comes from researchers from the Brazilian Agricultural Research Society (Embrapa), who have already obtained significant results in their field studies and presented them at the public hearing on Thursday (2) before the Commission of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform (CRA).

The challenge is to overcome the nearly 13 million tons consumed in the country today, 50% of which is imported.
