Cuban government announces a new wave of blackouts on the island

Through the state-owned Unión Eléctrica (UE), the Cuban government has hinted that it foresees power cuts for some hours, estimating that up to 37% of the island would be affected by this decision.

The Caribbean nation experienced during the last month a resurgence of street protests when indignant citizens complained to the tyranny of Miguel Diaz Canel for the continuous days of power cuts to which they were being subjected.
