Soundscapes Zanzi is a beach music festival on the island of Zanzibar, with its sixth edition starting on Thursday 21 January 2027. The festival sits on Bwejuu Beach, and a five-day pass costs US$329 on the ticket platform Xceed.

For a US visitor, the main facts are a long trip, a US$100 visa and ticket prices set in dollars. This Soundscapes Zanzi guide covers dates, passes, the venue, entry rules and what the organiser has not yet confirmed.

In Plain English

Soundscapes Zanzi takes place in Zanzibar, an island group off Tanzania that governs many of its own affairs inside the Tanzanian union. Bwejuu is a small village on its east coast, known for a long sandy beach.

The festival is a multi-day gathering of electronic dance music, mostly house music, which is a steady four-beat style made for dancing. Xceed, the ticket platform, lists it under deep house, minimal and Afro house.

What Soundscapes Zanzi VI Is and Why It Matters

Xceed describes Soundscapes Zanzi VI as six days on the shores of Zanzibar, between Bwejuu Beach and a coconut forest. Gates open at 15:00 on Thursday 21 January 2027, and the programme runs until 08:00 on Tuesday 26 January.

The five festival days run from Thursday 21 to Monday 25 January 2027. An after-party follows from Monday 25 to Tuesday 26 January.

The listing names more than 40 acts. Among them are the DJs Konstantin, Andrey Pushkarev and Thomas Melchior, the duo Hamish & Toby, and the Tanzanian group The Zawose Queens.

The organiser says the site has two stages, a wellness temple, a food court and a local artisan market. It also describes a slow daily rhythm, with long sets in the sun and nights that stretch into the morning.

For US readers, this is a niche but real alternative to the usual Zanzibar beach holiday. You can add a few days of music to a stay on the island, since one-day passes are on sale.

Tickets and Prices

Tickets for Soundscapes Zanzi are sold on Xceed, which lists the festival on the organiser’s own channel. The platform showed three passes on Wednesday 28 October 2026.

The Early Bird five-day pass at US$299 is sold out. The first-release five-day pass costs US$329, and a first-release one-day pass costs US$129.

The five-day pass covers all festival days from Thursday 21 to Monday 25 January 2027 and the after-party. The one-day pass covers a single festival day chosen from that period.

Both passes are marked as limited at the current price, while stocks last. The organiser has not published any later release or its price.

The Xceed listing shows prices in US dollars, so a US card holder avoids a currency conversion on the ticket itself. Whether Xceed adds a booking fee at checkout is not shown on the listing.

The Venue and How to Get There

The Soundscapes Zanzi venue is a beach site, and Xceed gives the address as Bwejuu, Tanzania. The listing puts it at about 6.21 degrees south and 39.53 degrees east, on the island’s east coast.

Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (code ZNZ) is the island’s main airport and the usual arrival point for visitors. The organiser has not published a road distance, driving time or airport transfer.

The venue is an open-air site in a coconut forest, with 200 metres of beach and views of the Indian Ocean. Xceed lists no accommodation, camping or shuttle service for ticket holders.

Most visitors from the United States should expect at least one connecting flight to reach Zanzibar. The State Department also mentions the high-speed ferry from the mainland, with tickets bought in the terminal or online.

What It Means for You as a US Visitor

US citizens need a tourist visa for Tanzania, which they can request online before travel or obtain on arrival. The State Department puts the fee at US$100 for a one-year multiple-entry tourist visa.

Your passport must be valid for six months and have at least one blank page. Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required if you arrive from a country with the disease, including after a layover of 12 hours or more.

Zanzibar has required visitors to hold inbound travel insurance from the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation since 1 October 2024, according to a Tanzania High Commission advisory. For the mainland, Government Notice No. 256 of 2026, published on 4 September 2026, sets a US$44 premium for foreigners.

A five-day pass and a visa add up to US$429 before flights, lodging and the insurance premium. Ask your own insurer about medical evacuation, because the State Department notes that US Medicare and Medicaid do not apply overseas.

Zanzibar’s pan-African music festival is a good second stop for a longer trip. Our guide to Sauti za Busara in Zanzibar covers it from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 March 2027.

Safety and Practical Tips

The State Department’s Tanzania page shows Level 3, which means reconsider travel, and its date line reads Last Updated: January 21, 2025. We re-read it on Wednesday 28 October 2026, and it says violent crime is common and local police have limited resources.

The same page says tap water is not potable in many areas and ambulance services are unreliable or hard to reach. It strongly recommends supplemental insurance that covers medical evacuation.

The State Department warns that same-sex relations are a criminal offence in Tanzania. It adds that LGB travellers may be denied entry by immigration authorities, including on Zanzibar.

Zanzibar is a tropical destination, so ask a travel clinic about malaria tablets and vaccinations well before January. Our Tanzania healthcare guide covers clinics and insurance for longer stays.

The US Embassy in Dar es Salaam has an assistance line at +255 22 229 4122 and an emergency line at +255 22 229 4000. Save both numbers before you leave.

What Is Not Confirmed Yet

The organiser’s own website was not reachable from our systems, so Xceed as the only ticket seller is not confirmed. Check the festival’s official social channels before you pay anyone else.

The Soundscapes Zanzi organiser has not published the full line-up, set times, stage names or the daily schedule. Later releases, extra ticket types and any camping or shuttle options are also not announced.

The listing does not say whether there is an age limit or a refund policy. It gives no details of accommodation partners, airport transfers or an on-site cashless payment system.

The Zanzibar insurance price and the way the rule is checked at the airport are not confirmed in the government notice we read. Check the Zanzibar tourism authority’s insurance page before you fly.
