RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Last month 129,000 vehicles were licensed, a drop of 22.8% compared to the same period in 2021. However, prices did not fall back. It is what a survey from KBB Brasil, specialized in new and used car prices, points out.

The main responsible for keeping the upward trend in prices was the used cars (from zero to three years), which registered an average variation of 2.96%, and used cars (from four to ten years), with an average increase of 1.87%. The prices of 0 km cars, on the other hand, increased by only 0.25%.

Among the 0 km vehicles, there was a 0.36% increase in the 2022 models, while the 2021 models had no significant variation. These increases are much lower than those registered in 2021 when the 2022 models varied by 1.67% and the 2021 models by 1.09% on average per month.

In the case of semi-new and used cars, the survey shows a cooling down in inflation in these categories compared to January. Concerning semi-new cars, with up to three years of use, those with the model year 2020 were the ones that rose the most in price in February: 4.21% on average, a number that leaves these vehicles well above the variation presented in 2021, when the increase was, on average, 1.06% per month.

For used cars between four and ten years old, the 1.87% variation for the category was below the average 2.04% monthly variation observed over the past year. Among the model years in this category, again, the 2012 vehicles were the ones that rose the most in price in February, with a 2.66% variation.
