LIVE:
Sofar Rio @ Mystery Location (Glória) – Sofar (Songs from a room) Sounds is a project that presents the magic of live music through intimate shows put on in unusual environments.

It’s a unique event where participants can enjoy an experience full of good music, while also getting in close proximity to the musicians, finding new places in the city and also enjoying the experience of a real surprise while in the comfort of a crowd of like-minded people.

Sofar Sounds performs secret surprise shows. They do not release the identity of the bands or performers before the event. The address of the location is only revealed 48 hours prior to the event and only to confirmed participants.

This Sofar Sounds event will be starting at 7:30PM in the neighborhood of Glória, with three to five bands or artists each playing a set of around twenty minutes. Tickets are priced at R$35.

Samba da Gávea @ Da Casa da Táta (Gávea) – Around the table, no microphone and no outlet, no rehearsal and no script, this is samba how it should be, full of the magic of improvisation and fun!

This Monday, among those participating will be Alfredo Del Penho, Bruno Barreto, João Cavalcanti, Luís Filipe de Lima, Paulino Dias, Pedro Miranda, and Thiago da Serrinha.

There are fifty places available and the cost is R$30. The evening starts at 8PM and they advise you to get there early! As they start on time, and the place is not big. After that, you can only get in if someone leaves.

Ensaios do Bloco do Caramuela! @ Ganjah Lapa (Lapa) – Every Monday in October Ganjah Lapa will host the Ensaios do Bloco do Caramuela. From 7PM to 10PM the house will be invaded by the musicality of this group, who will surely get the crowd up on their feet and dancing.

In the repertoire of the Bloco do Caramuela, expect plenty of Brazilian classics, from genres as diverse as baião, xote, xaxado, côco and forrozão, with hints of maracatu, ciranda, afoxé, capoeira, samba and salsa. Entrance is free!

Winehouse (Botafogo)
Winehouse is a wine bar run by a British expat that has brought an eclectic range of wines to Rio including a mix of fabulous national wines and international favorites. There is also a great selection of nibbles and cheese boards. For those who aren’t too keen on wine, there is plenty of beer and cocktail options too. Happy hour begins at 6PM and finishes at 8PM.

Pavão Azul (Copacabana)
Pavão Azul is a lively bar in Copacabana, famous for its exceptionally cold beers and prawn pastels. It gets crowded there every night, making every day of the week seem like the weekend.

Blue Agave Copa (Copacabana)

With classic pub games like darts and pool, Ipanema’s Shenanigan’s is always a great spot to visit. Monday to Friday, Happy Hour is from 6PM to 8PM and Mondays are half-price steak nights starting at 8PM.

Nosso (Ipanema)
Located in a charming house at Maria Quitéria Street, its sophisticated drinks and dishes are undoubtedly worth a try. You will also enjoy Nosso if you are a rum lover: their rum drinks, with labels from Cuba and Jamaica, are the house specialties.
