Chile’s IPSA ESGT stock index declined sharply by 1.86% on July 28, closing at 167,230 CLP. The drop followed global market anxiety driven by U.S. inflation fears and rising bond yields.

Despite the pullback, copper export strength provided underlying stability. The index’s significant movers included Vapores, a shipping firm that gained around 3.7%, driven by steady export activities.

Banco Security rose approximately 2.9%, appealing to investors seeking safer banking stocks. Conversely, lithium giant SQM B declined by 2.8%, influenced by declining lithium prices and profit-taking moves.

Andina B, in consumer staples, fell about 2.6%, alongside Enel Americas and Cencosud Shopping, both negatively affected by cautious sector rotations.

Technical analysis suggests short-term concerns. The daily chart shows IPSA near its 50-day moving average (168,400 CLP), indicating potential vulnerability.

The RSI stands at about 42, signaling room for further declines before the market is considered oversold. The MACD also suggests weakening momentum.

The 4-hour chart reinforces caution, showing IPSA below the Ichimoku cloud. RSI readings between 38 and 43 reflect slight oversold conditions, hinting at potential but limited recovery attempts.

Key immediate support appears around 164,400 CLP, coinciding with the lower Bollinger Band and the 200-period moving average. Breaking this could lead the market down to stronger support between 160,000 and 153,000 CLP.

In a broader view, the weekly chart maintains an overall positive outlook despite recent declines, showing the IPSA clearly above its long-term moving averages.

This supports a long-term bullish stance, driven by Chile’s projected 2.5% GDP growth in 2025, primarily anchored by copper exports.

Meanwhile, the Global Liquidity Index (NDQ), illustrated by the yellow line, suggests weakening global liquidity. This decline indicates reduced global investor appetite, negatively affecting emerging market equities like Chile.
