Brazil: 39% approve and 55% disapprove of the Bolsonaro government -PoderData, July 3-5
RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – A PoderData survey conducted from July 3 to 5 shows that Jair Bolsonaro’s (Liberal Party – PL) government continues to be disapproved by a little more than half of the Brazilian electorate. 55% say they disapprove of the president’s leadership, while 39% approve.
The numbers have oscillated within the poll’s margin of error (2 percentage points) in the last 15 days. The disapproval rate had an upward variation of 3 points, while approval remained numerically the same.
In the medium term, the numbers indicate a stable picture over the past four months. Since the beginning of March, the government’s approval rating has oscillated between 35% and 39%. The disapproval has varied from 52% to 57% in the same period.
With this result, the disapproval rate is 16 percentage points higher than the approval rate. The most negative point for the government was in the round from August 30 to September 1, 2021, when this difference was 36 p.p.
PoderData also asked the interviewees if they had received any payments from the Brazil Aid program in the month before the survey. The government showed an advance among the program beneficiaries.
The result, however, was not enough to improve the evaluation of the Bolsonaro administration in the population as a whole.
STRATIFICATION
The government has the highest approval rates in the North region. The disapproval is highest in the Northeast and Center-West regions.

PowerData also asked respondents about how they evaluate Jair Bolsonaro’s work. For 54%, the president is “bad” or “terrible. Other 31% consider him “great” or “good”, and 13% evaluate him as “regular”.
