Paraguay’s Pork Exports Jump in 2023

In 2023, Paraguay’s pork exports saw a big leap, growing by 172.8% from the previous year.

This information comes from a recent report by the National Service of Animal Health and Quality (SENACSA).

The report shows a sharp rise in pork shipments. From January to December 2023, Paraguay exported 7,689 tons of pork.

This is a significant increase from 2,818 tons shipped the year before. The growth in exports is 4,871 tons.

The increase in exports led to more revenue. In 2023, pork exports brought in 19 million dollars. This is a rise of 13 million dollars from the 5 million dollars earned in 2022.

Experts in the field explain this success. They say Paraguay regained its export status and entered new markets.

This change stabilized production costs. It also solved the problem of excess supply from 2022.

The report details the main markets for these exports. The largest buyer was the Taiwan region of China.

Uruguay was the second-biggest market. They bought more than 1,800 tons, valued at nearly 4,000 million dollars.

Georgia was another key market. They imported almost 1,000 tons, worth 1.185 million dollars.

For pork offal, the top destinations were Ivory Coast, Georgia, and Cape Verde. Ivory Coast imported 40,006.06 kilograms.

Georgia bought nearly 17,000.00 kilograms. Cape Verde purchased 28,007.50 kilograms. The total value of these offal exports was around 40,000 dollars.
