Pelé, King of World Soccer, Has Turned 79

By · October 24, 2019 · 1 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – His Majesty of Soccer, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, King Pelé, turned 79 on Wednesday, October 23rd.

The striker netted 1,282 goals throughout his career. Brazil’s eternal jersey #10 was honored on social networks by various clubs and institutions.

FIFA published a video of the player with the caption “the only player to win three World Cups”. The message refers to the titles won by the national team in 1958 (Sweden), 1962 (Chile) and 1970 (Mexico).

Pelé’s talent was also celebrated by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), which posted a photograph of the King in front of the Jules Rimet Cup, along with the message “it’s his birthday, but the gift has always been ours”.
