RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Contacts with nature and outdoor sports are some of the characteristics of Rio’s people, whether it’s playing volleyball on the beach, running in the Lage Park or cycling along the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon with the breathtaking landscapes of Rio de Janeiro.

Another common habit among Rio’s locals is to step on the sand. Beira Mar Avenue is still growing as a resting place, suitable for practicing sports activities. Copacabana, Leblon and Ipanema‘s sands remain disputed by fans of foot-volleyball, today an Olympic sport, and frescoball (a kind of racquetball).

In Copacabana, foot-volleyball enthusiasts from Rio de Janeiro can practice it at one of its top schools, the “Léo Tubarão”, nickname of the player Leonardo Salles, one of the main people in the sport.

In addition, the more radical Cariocas also tend to venture into hang gliding. The Morro Dois Irmãos is one of the best places to practice this sport in Rio de Janeiro, offering the opportunity for the brave to admire the breathtaking views from above during the flight, admiring the sea and the surrounding mountains of Rio de Janeiro.

Another activity loved by Rio locals is stand-up paddle, one of the most practiced water sports in recent years. By moving the entire musculature, the activity helps tone the muscles. A good place to practice the sport while admiring the beautiful landscapes of the capital of Rio de Janeiro is Barra da Tijuca.

Beach volleyball is also a very popular sport in Rio de Janeiro and can be practiced in Leme do Botafogo or Macumba Beach, which is located between the beaches of Recreio and Prainha.
