Iran and Bolivia strengthen trade cooperation

Iran and Bolivia emphasize the need to expand cooperation and pledged to increase bilateral trade in various fields, the Iranian news agency IRNA reported.

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian, in a meeting held on Sunday with Bolivian Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani, highlighted the importance that Tehran attaches to the development of cooperation with the Andean country.

He also announced the readiness of the Iranian private sector to develop economic relations with Bolivia and referred to the importance of ties between Iran and South America.

Likewise, the Iranian official expressed his country’s readiness to implement infrastructure projects in Bolivia and export technical and engineering services to the South American country and increase bilateral trade in areas of interest, such as agriculture.

For his part, Mamani considered his trip to Iran useful to learn about the high capacities of the Islamic Republic and emphasized the importance of maintaining cooperation and solidarity between the two countries to strengthen multilateralism and strengthen international peace and security.

Similarly, he called Iran’s development in the fields of industry, science, technology and medicine impressive.

In this sense, Mamani also held a meeting with the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Ali Baqeri Kani, who praised his country’s role in the fight against terrorism in the Middle East, while noting that the resistance is no longer “a mere culture, but in an integral and efficient model of governing the State”.

Baqeri Kani also praised the independent countries for resisting foreign pressure and blackmail and preserving their territorial integrity.

The Bolivian deputy foreign minister, in turn, advocated deepening and expanding cooperation between La Paz and Tehran, with special emphasis on culture, tourism, trade and livestock, according to the Bolivian television channel ATB.

The parties have reviewed the main issues of common interest to continue strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries, which share points of view regarding their political positions, among which opposition to imperialism and U.S. interference stands out.

Mamani and the delegation accompanying him are on an official visit to Tehran on the occasion of the first joint economic commission between the two countries.
