Investments by foreign companies in Chile amounted to US$16.85 billion between January and November 2022, higher than the amount received in all of 2021 (US$15.252 billion), the Central Bank of Chile reported today.

The entity indicated in a statement that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) increased by 11% year-on-year and represented 24% more than the average of the last five years.

The Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism highlighted the “good news” in foreign investment, while noting that the flow of capital is “dynamic.”

“If we want the figures to remain positive, and foreign companies continue to choose Chile when installing their sustainable projects in the region (…) we must continue working hard as a government,” said Minister Nicolás Grau.

Along these lines, from the Chilean agency for promoting investment abroad, InvestChile, they affirmed that the South American country is in the crosshairs of high-tech and clean energy entrepreneurs.

According to the Central Bank report, the main component of the investment flow in the first 11 months of the year was equity investments, with an amount of US$7.789 billion in the period.

Meanwhile, the reinvestment of profits reached US$6.1 billion, while debt instruments accumulated US$2.961 billion, with a decrease due to the payment of related debt.
