Chilean police detain individuals carrying an Argentine Army submachine gun
Carabineros de Chile (militarized Police) arrested three individuals in Santiago carrying a double-trigger Halcon submachine gun (submachine gun) belonging to the Argentine Army.
“Three men of Chilean nationality were detained in the commune of La Pintana [south of Santiago] carrying a submachine gun used by the Argentine Army, in the framework of a preventive plan to control the use of firearms and violent crimes in the capital,” reported Colonel Gonzalo Araya at a press conference.
During the inspection of the suspect vehicle, the individuals tried to flee and were finally arrested and brought to justice.
The Police specified that the seized submachine gun is a Halcón brand carbine with high firepower, with a double trigger that allows for bursts of shots in semi-automatic mode with shots that reach targets more than 100 meters away.
“The weapon has a magazine for 30 shots, and the subjects were carrying three magazines; another short firearm was found in the vehicle,” added Colonel Araya.
The apprehended subjects have a long police record for robbery with violence, robbery with intimidation, receiving, and theft.
The car they were driving had a warrant for robbery with violence.
