Maduro urges to take advantage of the region’s “great opportunity” to build a common progressive economic space

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro expressed this Friday night that the Latin American region was experiencing a favorable scenario for progressive forces and urged the nations of the area to take advantage of this “great opportunity” to strengthen regional integration.

Before the cameras of the state-owned Venezolana de Televisión, Maduro asserted that the leaders of the entire region must soon consider a new dynamic “to agree on the construction of a common economic space, to agree on the construction of a common monetary system”.

In this sense, he described the development of progressive forces as “a great opportunity to build our new independence, to build new democracies, to put an end to the neoliberal model and give rights to education, health, work and food to our peoples”.

“There has to be a change of attitude in all the rulers of America; we have to look inward to our America with great strength again; there has to be a change in our behavior to hear each other, to understand each other”, he stressed.

In addition, he stressed that another significant point of the common agenda should be the regeneration of the Amazon as part of the fight against climate change, referring to the announcement of the president-elect of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, about Brazil’s intention to host the 30th edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, to be held in 2025.

“We say to Lula (da Silva) that we agree with an urgent political summit to save the Amazon, to recover, regenerate and reforest the Amazon; this is a great point of the progressive agenda”, he sentenced.
