Paraguay: Customs registers 20 consecutive months of surpluses as of September 2022

The National Customs Directorate (DNA) recorded 20 consecutive months of surpluses as of September 2022, the month in which collections amounted to G. 1.2 trillion (US$168,939,432), higher than G. 1.1 trillion (US$154,861,146) collected the same month but from 2021.

The bulletin detailed that, of the last 20 months with a surplus, in 14 months they exceeded G. 1 billion (US$140,782,860), a fact that constitutes a milestone in terms of customs income.

Customs collection increased despite the drop in fuel imports, the lowering of rivers and the reduction of tariffs. The month of September reached G 1.2 trillion, reaching 20 consecutive months of surplus.

In the ninth month of this year, customs revenues reached G. 1.22 billion (US$171,755,089), the highest collection achieved in all the months of September. The amount was 8.4% higher compared to G. 1.13 trillion (US$159,084,632) obtained in the ninth month of 2021.

Revenues from imported spare parts (auto parts) increased 25%, capital goods 18.3%, fertilizers 40% and beverages 55.5%, among those that had the most significant increases.

In accumulated terms, customs taxes reached the figure of G. 10 billion (US$1,407,828,605), 20.2% above the accumulated figure of G. 8.3 billion (US$1,168,497,742) registered from January to September 2021.
