Banana businessman Alvaro Noboa and his son will run for President of Ecuador

Banana businessman Alvaro Noboa and his son Daniel Noboa Azin are preparing to participate as presidential candidates in the early elections scheduled for August 20 in Ecuador.

The businessman and lawyer Noboa confirmed in a video his decision to run for the presidency for the sixth time after doing so in 1998, 2002, 2006, 2009, and 2021.

“The people of Ecuador are going through very difficult times; that is why I have accepted the request of the Ecuadorian people to work with them, with the Ecuadorians, as president of the Republic of Ecuador.”

“Let’s go together, Ecuadorians. Let us work until victory, until victory always, Ecuadorians. I love you with all my heart,” said Noboa.

Meanwhile, his son Daniel Noboa, who was a representative in the National Assembly (unicameral Parliament) dissolved last May 17 by President Guillermo Lasso, had also announced in a video message that he will participate in the next election.

Only 12 days ago, Lasso signed decree 741, with which he dissolved the legislative body and ordered to call for elections during an impeachment process against him for alleged embezzlement.

Up to this moment, several presidential aspirants have been announced, but their candidacies have not been made official before the National Electoral Council yet.

Among the requirements to comply with this procedure is to have been elected candidate in the elections of the political organizations, as well as to be an Ecuadorian citizen and to be 35 years old.
