Colombian President Gustavo Petro apologized for the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse by Colombian mercenaries in July 2021.
"Today I apologized to Haiti for the assassination of his president committed by Colombian mercenaries," he said through his Twitter account.

On July 7, 2021, a group of armed men arrived at the residence of the then president of Haiti, Jovenel Moïse, where they murdered him and badly injured his wife.
