Startup Summit: event starting today brings together startups and innovation agents in Brazil’s Florianópolis

The spirit of early-stage startups in a scenario that challenges funding from more mature companies should provide space for entrepreneurs to discuss the fate and future of small innovative companies.

The venue for these conversations is the Startup Summit, an event organized by Sebrae, the Technology Association of Santa Catarina (Acate), and the Commerce and Industry Association of Florianópolis (ACIF) begins on Thursday, May 4, in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina.

At least 5,000 visitors are expected to attend the two days of programming, including investors, startup founders, and innovation enthusiasts from the country’s southern region, as well as 120 startups in various stages of development.

Guests at the 2022 edition include names such as Camila Farani, entrepreneur and angel investor; Chris Yeh, author of the best-selling book “Blitzcaling”; Florian Hagenbuch, founder of Loft; and Marcelo Lombardo, CEO of Omie.

The Startup Summit program will include lectures and open courses at booths prepared by major companies, startups, and associations from the region and a business area where companies can present their offerings.

During the event, Sebrae will also announce the winners – among the 24 finalists – of Like a Boss, an innovation competition in which startups seeking training and acceleration participate.

FLORIANÓPOLIS ECOSYSTEM

Unlike other innovation ecosystems in the country, Florianópolis has its own peculiarities. One of them is that the city has the highest concentration of startups in the Southern Region in terms of population.

A good business environment justifies the number of startups. Florianópolis is considered the sixth-best city for startups in the country, according to the Startup Ecosystem Index Report.
