Five new flight routes will connect Brazil’s Northeast with Buenos Aires

Brazil’s GOL Linhas Aéreas has announced plans to expand its service between Argentina and Brazil. The company will reconnect the five capitals of the country’s northeast directly with Buenos Aires, boosting service between the two countries by the end of 2022.

In recent months, Argentina has become an attractive destination for Brazilian travelers using reals and a favorable exchange rate for them to enter the country due to the devaluation of the Argentine peso against the dollar.

In early August, official sources from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports indicated that in 2022, 350,000 tourists and 650,000 excursionists from Brazil entered Argentina through various routes, representing 22% of the total number of foreign visitors.

Naturally, airlines are trying to take advantage of this situation by offering Brazilians more flight options to travel to Argentina. Therefore, GOL announced five new flights in the Metropolitan Aeroparque of Buenos Aires.

  • Fortaleza-Buenos Aires, starting Aug. 20, every Saturday.
  • Maceió-Buenos Aires, starting Dec. 3, every Saturday.
  • Salvador-Buenos Aires, starting Dec. 3, every Saturday.
  • Natal-Buenos Aires, starting Dec. 3, flights will arrive at Aeroparque on Saturdays, while return flights to Natal will be on Sundays.
  • Recife-Buenos Aires, starting Dec. 3, every Saturday.

“Buenos Aires is an important destination in South America, and now customers in GOL’s Northeast Zone will have the opportunity to fly nonstop to Aeroparque, located just 7.5 km from the city center, from where they can access the main tourist and business points,” said Bruno Balan, GOL’s director of strategic planning.

But that’s not all: in addition to opening these new routes, the Brazilian airline plans to expand its existing services, from three to four weekly flights between São Paulo and Buenos Aires, from two to three between Rio de Janeiro and the federal capital, and from three weekly to one daily flight between the Buenos Aires metropolis and Florianopolis.

The number of flights between Mendoza and São Paulo will increase from 3 to 5 per week starting in September. In addition, GOL continues its plan to open three weekly flights from Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to Córdoba and Rosario, beginning from the last week of November.

AEROLINEAS ARGENTINAS

The Argentine flag carrier is aware of the importance of the Brazilian market, which it described some time ago as “the most important” for the company, and announced a few days ago that it would maintain three flights scheduled initially exclusively for the winter season, viz.

  • Starting in September, there will be two weekly flights between São Paulo-Salta and Tucumán, on Wednesdays and Sundays from Tucumán at 3:20 p.m., while aircraft from Brazil will depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. local time.
  • Beginning in September, the São Paulo-Córdoba-El Calafate route will also be served twice weekly, departing El Calafate at 11:45 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays, while in the other direction, planes will depart at 10:30 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays.
  • From Sept. 21, the São Paulo-Bariloche route will be served only once a week, on Mondays from Río Negro at 16:40 and Wednesdays from São Paulo at noon local time.
