Brazil: Nationwide 5G network moves forward

Each operator must activate at least eight stations in Aracaju, five in Boa Vista, eleven in Campo Grande, eight in Cuiabá, thirteen in Maceió, fourteen in São Luís and eleven in Teresina.

In this phase, the tender provides for the activation of one 5G antenna for every 100,000 inhabitants.

The number of stations will increase as this technology advances. In the country’s interior, the pure 5G signal will be activated gradually until 2029, according to the schedule of Anatel.

Pure 5G, also called standalone or SA, offers speeds ten times faster than 4G and lower latency (delay) in responding to user commands.

The technology is already offered in 15 state capitals: Brasília, Belo Horizonte, João Pessoa, Porto Alegre, São Paulo, Curitiba, Salvador, Goiânia, Rio de Janeiro, Palmas, Vitória, Florianópolis, Recife, Fortaleza, and Natal.

To use pure 5G mobile Internet, users need a cell phone suitable for this technology. Most newer cell phones are already enabled.

Operators do not require SIM cards to be changed. The user must be in areas covered by the 5G signal, which will initially work in regions selected by the phone companies.
