Brazil government revises GDP growth forecast for 2022 from 2.0% to 2.7
The Ministry of Economy has raised the country’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2022 from 2.0% to 2.7%.
GDP is the sum of all goods produced by a country in a given period. If the forecast is confirmed, the economy will have turned over R$9.7 (US$1.9) trillion by the end of the year.
The change is due to the increase in employment, the performance of the services sector, and the increase in the investment rate.

The data were published on Thursday (15) in the MacroFiscal Bulletin, prepared by the PES (Secretariat for Economic Policy) of the Ministry of Economy.
The government also lowered its estimate for inflation from 7.2% to 6.3%.
The announcement comes shortly after fuel prices were lowered due to a drop in oil barrels on the international market and a reduction in federal and state taxes.
The GDP revision is in line with other financial institutions.
Economists surveyed by the Central Bank expect growth of 2.39% this year. The forecast for the IPCA (National Wide Consumer Price Index) is down and was 6.4% this week.
For 2023, the government is sticking with a 2.5% GDP growth projection. And sees inflation at 4.5%.
The government bulletin says economic activity growth is expected to continue in the year’s second half.
The first releases for July indicate that industry, services, and the labor market continue to grow.
