São Paulo’s Heart Features Christmas Festival Attractions in December
SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – Under the theme “Light in the Heart of the City”, the City Hall of São Paulo is organizing a number of activities in its historic center, between December 9th and 23rd. The Christmas Festival aims to “bring Christmas magic to the birthplace of the city of São Paulo because this is where the city was born. It is the opportunity to rediscover its cultural essence and enhance this setting filled with history and beauty”, announces the City Hall.

Lights
During this period, the streets of the historic center will feature a differentiated decoration, with special lighting, between 6 PM and 11 PM, which will take place in the Matarazzo Building (Viaduto do Chá, 15), Martinelli Building (Rua São Bento, 405), Municipal Treasury Office (Praça do Patriarca, 69), São Paulo Court of Justice (Rua São Bento, 125), Municipal Culture Office (Rua Líbero Badaró, 340) and UBS Republic (Praça do Patriarca, 100).
A mapped projection, with Christmas themes, will be held from December 13th to 23rd in two locations: the Matarazzo Building, from 7 PM to 11 PM; and the São Bento Monastery, from 8:30 PM to 11 PM.
Multiple Attractions
A Christmas Village will be set up in Patriarca Square, with a 22-meter tall tree lit with 60,000 LED microlights, a handicraft and handcraft fair, and Santa Claus’ House as its main attractions.
In the Viaduto do Chá, a 22-meter tall illuminated Ferris wheel will be installed, open to the public, from 12 noon to 11 PM.
At ‘Pateo do Collegio’, between December 13th and 23rd, from 2 PM to 10:30 PM, Christmas Cine Iglu will take place, with a 360-degree projection, with high-tech light and sound. This 5D experience lasts five minutes, with up to 90 people attending simultaneously.
At the São Bento Square, between December 9th and 23rd, an ice skating rink will be set up, which can be visited from 12 noon to 11 PM, in a cool and interactive environment.

The “Nutcracker – Brazilian Company of Classical Dances” will perform three shows during the Christmas Festival, always at 12:30 PM: on December 17th, at São Bento Square; on December 18th, at the Café Square; on December 19th, at Misericórdia Square; and on June 20th, on José Bonifácio Street.
On December 22nd there will also be a Christmas Parade, starting from Pateo do Collegio at 7 PM, with a parade of theme cars through the streets of the historic center.
During the festival, two great musical shows are scheduled: on December 13th, at 8:30 PM, with Fafá de Belém, on the balcony of UBS República; and on the 23rd, at 2 PM, with the group Art Popular, at the São Bento Square.
Nativity scenes and the Three Wise Men
In the Sé Square, between December 13th and 23rd, nativity scenes with giant characters will be assembled, while between Novembro XV Street and Padre Manuel da Nóbrega Square, from December 9th to 23rd, there will be a children nativity scene.
In addition, in Caixa Cultural (Sé Square, 111), there will be two presentations alluding to the Folia de Reis (popular religious festival): on December 7th, at 12 noon, with the Messengers of the Holy Kings; and on the 15th, at 12 noon, with the Company ‘Reis Estrela do Oriente’.
