Covid-19: Mexico to donate another 150,000 vaccine doses to Paraguay

By · September 3, 2021 · 1 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – Foreign Minister Euclides Acevedo announced that the AstraZeneca vaccine doses to be donated by Mexico will land in Paraguay in the next few days.

“I have been informed that we will have a higher amount of vaccines delivered in the next few days. However, we recommend that citizens do not lower their guard, to prevent a third wave,” Acevedo said.

The Foreign Minister reported that these 150,000 vaccine doses will be delivered to the country as a donation, while by the end of November another batch of 500,000 to 800,000 vaccines are expected to be purchased from AstraZeneca Mexico.

In addition, he said that by next year another 3 million vaccines should be purchased from the Mexican laboratory.

Last June, Mexico donated 150,000 vaccines to Paraguay as part of its cooperation with the region’s countries.

The vaccines will be used to continue the Public Health’s vaccination plan, which estimates that 4.3 million people will be immunized against Covid-19.
