Argentina’s official data shows monthly inflation hit 1.6% in June 2025, just above May’s 1.5%.

This is still the lowest monthly pace seen since 2020. Annual inflation dropped to 39.4%, down from 43.5% in May.

This marks a sharp fall from the triple-digit inflation that hurt the country in 2023.

The biggest price jumps came from education, up 3.7%, and fuel, up 3.4%, as global oil prices rose.

Food prices rose just 0.6%, giving some relief to families. These figures come from Argentina’s national statistics agency, INDEC.

Argentina’s economy grew 7.6% in the second quarter of 2025, its best result in years. The government cut public spending, reduced subsidies, and ended many social benefits.

June 2025 Sees Argentina’s Inflation Edge Up, Still Among Lowest Since 2020

These tough steps helped the country achieve a fiscal surplus of 1.6% of GDP, meeting its deal with the International Monetary Fund.

Poverty fell from 51% in early 2024 to 35.4% in early 2025, according to INDEC and Universidad Torcuatto Di Tella.

This means millions of Argentines are no longer below the poverty line, though poverty is still high.

In May 2025, Argentina left the World Health Organization, saying it wanted more control over health policy and spending.

Officials say this move will help direct resources where they are needed most. Argentina’s new approach focuses on cutting government spending and letting markets work more freely.

The country now faces the challenge of keeping these gains and avoiding a return to old problems. The numbers show Argentina is changing, but the path forward will not be easy.
