Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced today in Luanda that Egypt is poised to share experiences and bolster bilateral cooperation with Angola across various economic, commercial, and cultural sectors, highlighting investment opportunities for both countries.

“We stand ready to collaborate with our brothers in Angola, bolstering our Egyptian investors who have already initiated their investments in the Angolan market through the joint committee. This will provide us with a greater opportunity to streamline the entire process,” El-Sisi stated.

El-Sisi, who expressed joy over being the first Egyptian President to visit Angola, noted that this official visit to Luanda was planned three years ago, pre-dating the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Even back then, we had discussed exchanging experiences and fostering cooperation across various economic, commercial, and cultural sectors, including security and city building,” the Egyptian President stated alongside his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço.

Accompanied by a ministerial delegation, El-Sisi remarked that Cairo and Luanda are continually working on enhancing cooperation in various sectors. He warmly accepted an invitation to return to Angola in 2025 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Portuguese-speaking country’s independence.

The current global and regional security landscape was also a central focus during discussions between João Lourenço and El-Sisi. The Egyptian President emphasized the need to initiate ceasefire negotiations in Sudan through dialogue.

“In the past two weeks alone, these conflicts in Sudan have already led to more than two thousand displaced people on the Egyptian borders,” he highlighted.

“We have also been impacted by the conflict in Libya over the last decade, thus experience dictates that establishing peace and security is the paramount approach to ending such conflicts,” he reasoned.

During the Egyptian President’s visit, Angola and Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding in Luanda to cooperate on security and public order issues, along with another one for technical assistance on underground water resources.

The President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, alongside his Angolan counterpart, witnessed the signing of the two legal instruments, further reinforcing the cooperation between Luanda and Cairo.
