Data Influye poll sees leftist Gabriel Boric at top of presidential race in Chile

By · November 3, 2021 · 2 min read

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – While the political world awaits the rise of the presidential candidate of Apruebo Dignidad, Gabriel Boric (CS), most polls for the first round of the presidential elections on November 21 continue to produce figures that see the deputy and representative of the Christian Social Front, hard rightwing José Antonio Kast (Republican Party), as the favorite for the ballot.

However, the latest poll by Data Influye differs from other studies.

The tuinfluyes.com poll, led by sociologist Axel Callís, sees Boric ahead of Kast, unlike other studies that put the Republican Party founder at the top of the race, while assuming that they are the two candidates for La Moneda who will advance to the second round.

Boric (l) leads the preferences of citizens to reach La Moneda (32%) followed by Kast (27%), according to the poll

According to the polling institute Data Influye, Boric leads the preferences of citizens to reach La Moneda (32%), followed by Kast (27%), and the representative of the New Social Pact, Yasna Provoste (DC), remains in third place (13%), although she is much further away from the leaders of the poll, which significantly complicates her ambitions to reach the runoff.

In addition, independent Sebastián Sichel, the flagbearer of Chile Podemos Más, reaches 9%, ranking fourth in citizens’ preferences, closely followed by Franco Parisi of the Popular Party (PDG) with 8%, the representative of the Progressive Party (PRO), Marco Enríquez-Ominami (4%) and the Patriotic Union candidate, Eduardo Artés (2%).

The poll was conducted nationwide between October 29 and 31 among 1,908 people over the age of 18.
