Congress of Paraguay will extend leave of absence of former president
The Paraguayan Congress announced today that it will extend the leave of absence of former president and presidential candidate Fernando Lugo, who is doing well in Argentina, to specialized treatment after his stroke on August 10.
The president of that instance, Óscar Salomón, conveyed his surprise at the good health of the also senator and leader of the left-wing coalition Guasú Front, when conveying the decision to extend the license.

The legislative authority, who determined that the permit will be for 30 days, estimated that Lugo will soon be able to participate in the sessions virtually.

“We visited the senator –said Salomón- and we were really very surprised with his progress and improvement. We were able to notice that he was very lucid, he communicates perfectly, he already stammers some words and he answered all the questions correctly”.
The latest report on the health of the former president, informed by his family doctor and co-religionist Jorge Querey, ensures that Lugo is already taking his first steps, is in contact with his relatives and has a good level of consciousness.
Querey confirmed that the Guasú Front will keep the former president on the list of candidates for the internal elections in December and the general elections in April “until the electoral deadlines allow it.”
