Colombia: disapproval of President Gustavo Petro reaches 61%

The most recent Datexco poll for W Radio reveals that President Gustavo Petro’s disapproval reached 61%.

According to the poll, made to a total of 700 households via telephone, dated May 3-5, 2023, the highest disapproval of the head of state is presented in the eastern region, with 72%, followed by Bogotá, with 65%.

In the last survey, conducted between April 25 and 28, Petro’s disapproval stood at 52%, an increase of 9 basis points.

To the question “Do you like the president’s speeches from the balcony of the Casa de Nariño?”, the affirmative answer was 31%, while the negative answer was 58%.

Datexto also consulted citizens on the recent ministerial reshuffle made by the president, in which he changed 7 of his ministers.

The question was, Do you feel at ease with the change of 7 of the 18 ministers of the Petro Government’s cabinet?

The answer Yes was 31%, and the answer No was 51%.

Another question was whether you agreed or disagree with the president encouraging a revolution from the balcony of the Casa de Nariño.

The answer was: agree, 20%; disagree, 68%.

Last May 1st, when Labor Day was commemorated, Petro said from the balcony of the Casa de Nariño:

“Reforms can lead to a revolution.”

“The attempt to restrict reforms may lead to a revolution. What is needed anyway is for the people to be mobilized as they were with Bolivar, Melo, Lopez Pumarejo, and Gaitan”.

Respondents were also asked to rate from 1 to 5, where 1 is very bad, and 5 is very good, the President’s overall peace progress: the average response was 2.2.
