The tenth edition of the “Billionaire Census”, based on data from Wealth-X, has revealed that the number of billionaires worldwide fell to 3,194 in 2022.

This represents a decrease of 3.5% and is the first time since 2018 that a decrease has been recorded.

The report also shows that three-quarters of the billionaire population is concentrated in 15 countries, including Brazil, the United States, China, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

According to the report, these places offer the culture and lifestyle that this group seeks and business opportunities.

The “Billionaire Census” monitors the planet’s net wealth and total population of billionaires, broken down by region and city.

According to the data, North America recorded a decrease in billionaires for the first time in four years.

Among the top cities, Singapore recorded the largest increase in billionaires, with 54 billionaires in 2022.

The report shows that New York, Hong Kong, and San Francisco remain the preferred cities for the wealthiest people.

Brazilian mega-metropolis São Paulo ranks 13th, tied with Istambul.

Men dominate this index with 87.5%, while women make up less than one-fifth (12.5%).

The average age of billionaires is 67.2 years.

The report shows that those under 50 make up only 9.5% of the group, while those aged 50 to 70 make up 42.2%.

Those over 70 are in the majority at 48.2%.
