Angolan Airline TAAG plane on the São Paulo-Luanda route was transporting drugs

A plane belonging to the Angolan airline TAAG, which made the connection between the Brazilian city of São Paulo and Luanda, was carrying an “artifact” containing drugs, and the crew alerted the authorities, who are investigating the case.

The information circulated today on social networks and was confirmed by the airline which, in a statement, clarified that the “suspicious artifact” was detected on an aircraft that made the São Paulo-Luanda service on January 1, 2023.

After the crew’s alert, the Brazilian authorities checked the aircraft and confirmed that the “artifact” contained narcotics, having opened an investigation process led by the Federal Police of Brazil, with which TAAG is cooperating.

After the due diligence, the aircraft followed its normal flight itinerary.

In the note, TAAG condemned “all types of malicious practices” and expressed its willingness to collaborate in actions to prevent and combat illicit practices “in order to guarantee operational and passenger safety.”
