Two miners were killed last night in a collapse at a coal mine in a rural area of the Colombian municipality of Sativasur, in the department of Boyacá (central Colombia).
“The National Mining Authority reports that today’s emergency caused by a landslide in a coal mine in Sativasur, Boyacá, has claimed 2 lives. We regret the incident and extend our condolences to the families of those affected,” the state agency announced on its Twitter account.
The bodies of the deceased were taken to the neighbouring municipality of Socha. The authorities have launched investigations to determine the causes of the incident.
