Technology sector in São Paulo state will create at least 420,000 jobs by 2024

The Brazilian Association of Information and Communication Companies (Brasscom) estimates that at least 420,000 professionals will be needed between 2019 and 2024 to meet the internal needs of the market.

“We have not yet started the revolution of the Internet of Things, smart cities, 5g, etc.”

“All these topics are technologies already starting to take hold. We did a forecast of the demand for skilled workers. At that time, we estimated it at 420,000,” says Sérgio Paulo Gallindo, president of Brasscom.

“We are probably completely wrong in our forecast. We will need more qualified people to work with technology. On a simple average, we need 70,000 professionals per year, and Brazil is training only 46,000 professionals in technology.”

The shortage of these professionals has led technology companies to create segments within HR to retain talent.

Luiza Gomide, Chief People Officer at PicPay, explains, “I joined the company 5 months ago and faced the challenge of creating an area that was not the ‘traditional’ HR area.

The strategy we used was to unite the HR professionals with the technology professionals and work together to shape the employee journey within the company.

“It’s a very competitive market, and there’s a lot of competition for that talent and technology professionals.”

“With that in mind, we invested and created this focus area. This follow-up allows us to attract and retain talent,” Gomide explains.

Those interested in this area can look for free courses offered by the Proa Institute and the Centers for the Support of Work and Entrepreneurship (Cate).

The first of these is already offering courses for 2022, where students will spend six months learning to program and become full-stack developers.

The free course includes materials, a uniform, and a notebook. Registrations can be made through the website.

The Cates offer several courses in programming, such as SQL, Programming Logic, and Introduction to Website Creation.

There is no limit to the number of openings, and all course offerings are available on the website.
