Brazilian royal family descendant dies in São Paulo at 84

Since his father died in 1981, he has headed the Imperial House of Brazil, a non-governmental organization that defends the return to the monarchy.

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Luiz de Orleans e Bragança died on July 15, in São Paulo, at 84 years old. He is a descendant of the royal family that ruled Brazil under the monarchical system until 1889, when the Republic was proclaimed.

Bragança was the son of Pedro Henrique de Orleans e Bragança and Maria da Baviera, and was born on June 6, 1938, in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, France.
