According to the company’s global director, Maria Rubio, Brazil is a relevant part of Aena Desarollo’s international expansion plans.

On Thursday, August 18, the Spanish company bought the block of airports SP-MS-PA-MG (São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Minas Gerais), which includes Congonhas in São Paulo, for R$2.45 billion (US$473 million), a premium of 231%.

“We want to contribute to the airport development in Brazil. The country is an essential part of our strategic vision for international expansion,” said the executive during the press conference held after the auction.

The director highlighted that the company, which operates 46 airports in Spain alone, has ample experience operating large airport networks of different types, such as tourism and business, as well as varied sizes.

The SP-MS-PA-MG block, acquired by Aena, is composed of the airports of Congonhas, in São Paulo; Campo Grande, Corumbá, and Ponta Porã, in Mato Grosso do Sul; Santarém, Marabá, Parauapebas, and Altamira, in Pará; Uberlândia, Uberaba, and Montes Claros, in Minas Gerais.
