Air Travel Disrupted Between Argentina and Brazil

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, a strike by employees at Intercargo and Aerolíneas Argentinas halted flights between Argentina and Brazil.

Workers demanded higher wages, disrupting travel plans for thousands.

Latam and Gol, among other airlines, paused their Argentina-bound services, offering fee-free date changes or refunds to affected travelers.

Aerolíneas Argentinas canceled 331 flights, impacting 24,000 passengers.

Despite this, 10,000 travelers have already adjusted their plans. The airline faces a $2 million loss due to the strike.

Travelers were advised to stay away from airports and follow flight updates online or via email from the airlines.

The strike, initiated by APA, Apla, and UPSA unions, seeks salary hikes beyond the 12% proposed by the employers, aiming for equitable wage adjustments.

Labor disputes in Argentina’s airline sector disrupt international connectivity, stressing the need for effective negotiation to ensure travel stability.
