Steve Bannon sees a strengthened right wing and defends Eduardo Bolsonaro as his father’s successor

Former chief strategist for Donald Trump’s government in the United States, ideologue Steve Bannon sees that Jair Bolsonaro’s return to Brazil, scheduled for this Thursday (30), will be the beginning of a path to be “reelected president” and that his son, federal congressman Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), “will be the president” one day.

The statements were made in an interview published on Wednesday (29) in the newspaper Folha de São Paulo, where Bannon also says that the processes to which the former Brazilian president responds strengthen his image as a right-wing leader in the country.

According to Bannon, Bolsonaro “will come back and be incredible; he will be reelected president. I hope Lula doesn’t destroy Brazil’s economy by then.”

He says that the former president’s speech at CPAC, the conference of the right-wing movement in the United States, was “historical and incredibly moved the audience,”

This makes up for having left Brazil at the end of last year.

Also, according to the ideologist, the right-wing movement has been getting stronger worldwide, with representatives such as Viktor Orbán in Hungary, Marine Le Pen in France, Nigel Farage in the UK, Giorgia Meloni in Italy, Shinzo Abe in Japan, among others.

“That’s one of the reasons I’m so dedicated to Europe, to Japan; I talk to pro-democracy groups in China, which is my main work today; we did CPAC in Mexico. I dedicate so much of myself to Brazil because we are very connected,” he added.
