When comparing metallic mining production with March 2022, Minem stated that gold production expanded by 1 percent, lead by 1.5 percent, iron by 14 percent, and molybdenum by 7.1 percent.

However, the document prepared by the General Directorate of Mining Promotion and Sustainability of the Peruvian Ministry pointed out that the national production of zinc, silver, and tin registered year-on-year contractions.

Likewise, national gold production increased by 1 percent in March, compared to the same month last year, mainly due to higher output by “Consorcio Minero Horizonte S.R.L”.

At the departmental level, Arequipa retained first place with 36.5 percent in molybdenum production, where “Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde S.A.A.” stands out, followed by Tacna and Moquegua, in second and third position, respectively, with 18.7 percent and 13.8 percent.
