Grenada, a Caribbean island nation, heads to the polls on Thursday, and the week begins with a vote by the police. Our Grenada election updates hub tracks every step, and this guide sets out the calendar, the stakes and the clock for readers in the United States.
The ballot matters beyond the island because Grenada is a small, English-speaking democracy close to Venezuela. A change of government would be watched in Washington, in London and in the wider Caribbean.
The Calendar for the Week
Voting day is Thursday, November 5, 2026, with polls open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time. That is 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the US East Coast, because Grenada keeps the same clock all year and US clocks went back an hour on Sunday, November 1.
The next fixed date is Monday, November 2, when police officers vote early. The dates and hours here come from press reports, because we could not open the official notice from the Supervisor of Elections, the official who runs the poll.

What Is at Stake
Voters choose all 15 members of the House of Representatives, each in a single-member constituency. The candidate with the most votes in a seat wins it, which is known as first past the post, and a party needs eight seats to form a government.
Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell leads the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which won nine seats in the last election, held on June 23, 2022. The opposition New National Party (NNP) won the other six.
The NNP is the only party in Grenada’s history to have won all 15 seats, and it has done so three times. That record shows how quickly one side can sweep a small chamber when the national mood turns.
The Contenders
Emmalin Pierre leads the NNP and is the leader of the opposition. She took over from the party’s founder, Keith Mitchell, a former prime minister who led the NNP until December 2024.
A third force, the Democratic People’s Movement (DPM), was launched on November 16, 2025, by Peter David, a former foreign minister. Reports say the DPM is fielding candidates in nine of the 15 seats, while the NDC and the NNP are contesting all of them.
The three leaders met on Wednesday, October 28, at 7 p.m. ET for a debate at the Grenada Trade Centre in St George’s. It gave undecided voters their last long look at the main contenders before polling day.
What It Means for US Readers
Polls close at 4 p.m. ET on Thursday, so the first results could arrive during the American evening. Check back with our hub for the count, because a result is not final until the electoral authorities declare it.
Observer missions, including one from the Organization of American States, a regional body of 35 countries, are expected. Their preliminary statements usually follow within days of the vote.
For travellers and investors, a clear result matters more than the winner, since a close finish in a 15-seat chamber can leave the government in doubt. A third party also adds a new variable, because it may split the vote in the seats where it stands.
What Is Not Known
We found no news dated October 31 or November 1 that changes the schedule, and no representative poll from a named institute. We also found no prediction-market price on the race, although our search cannot rule out that one exists.
It is not known whether the DPM will take votes mainly from the governing party or from the opposition. The current party standings in the chamber, after defections since 2022, are also not confirmed here.
