Paraguay Achieves Impressive Trade Growth in 2023

Paraguay saw its global trade activities flourish in 2023, registering an impressive 8.4% growth compared to the previous year.

This notable development was captured in a recent release by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

The year-round data from January to December revealed that Paraguay’s total trade value reached $27.995 billion.

This figure represents a significant rise in the nation’s international trade operations.

The country expanded its export reach to 138 countries by the end of December 2023, slightly less than in 2022.

However, imports saw an increase, coming from 174 countries, up from the previous year.

Key exports for Paraguay in 2023 were diverse, including beans, soybeans, soy seeds, electric energy, and soy flour.

On the import front, the top items were telecommunication devices, petroleum oils, and passenger transport vehicles.

In terms of trading partners, Brazil stood out as Paraguay’s primary commercial partner, contributing 24.8% to its global trade.

Argentina came next with 19.5%, followed closely by China at 19.4%, the United States at 5.5%, and Chile at 4.6%.

This distribution underscores the strategic economic relationships Paraguay maintains across various regions.
