High-level science and technology meeting of Celac commences in Caracas

The Government of Venezuela has initiated a meeting of ministers and high-level authorities from the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) to enhance regional cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, announced Gabriela Jiménez, Venezuela’s Minister of Science and Technology.

During the meeting, Venezuela aims to stimulate discussions on ethics in digital transformation and artificial intelligence, science, technology, and innovation for social inclusion and the exchange of knowledge and ancestral wisdom.

Several crucial topics have been planned for deliberation, including sustainable food production, healthcare addressing communicable and non-communicable diseases, challenges related to new pandemics, space capabilities, and mitigation and adaptation to the climate crisis.

Jiménez highlighted the participation of high-level authorities and representatives from Paraguay, Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, and ECLAC (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean) in the seven working groups taking place in Caracas.
