Colombia’s Market Pushes Higher as Technical Signals Point to Caution
Colombia’s stock market traded higher in the last 24 hours, with data derived from official BVC charts and index sources. As of the morning of July 31, 2025, the COLCAP index traded at 1,759.90.
The technical signals from the daily chart showed price continued above the key exponential and simple moving averages, both confirming the market’s bullish structure.
The relative strength index, sitting just above 67 for the day, pointed to strong momentum. This reading gradually approached levels considered overbought, suggesting traders might soon trim their positions.
Meanwhile, the MACD momentum oscillator showed bullish conditions but with some flattening, which often signals that the rapid pace of gains is cooling.
Bollinger Bands indicated that price surged toward the upper band, a sign that volatility increased. When price hugs the upper band after rallying, caution grows among short-term investors as corrections become more likely.

Support levels formed around 1,730, while resistance lines now cluster at the 1,760-1,765 area. The blue 200-day moving average on the charts offered a critical reference for longer-term sentiment, remaining far below at 1,554.
Volume held steady during the day, confirming institutional participation and showing that upward moves had solid backing. However, ETF inflows began to moderate, aligning with a risk-off mood in other major emerging markets.
The Global Liquidity Index, depicted as the yellow line in the charts, showed substantial swings but recently dipped, reflecting tighter conditions that may limit further exuberance on the Colombian exchange.
The top gainers for this session included Banco Davivienda Pf, up by 3.81%, lifted by repositioning within the financial sector. Cementos Argos SA gained 2.49%, benefiting from upbeat earnings and construction outlooks.
Grupo Bolivar added 1.63%, as restructuring talk drew investors. The session’s steepest losses appeared in Canacol Energy, which dropped 5.60% after disappointing output guidance hit sentiment toward energy.
Cementos Argos Pf declined 1.74% after lagging its parent, while Promigas lost 1.17% as volume decreased and traders booked profits.
Compared regionally, Colombia’s COLCAP outperformed peers in Argentina and Brazil, where currency volatility and weak macro data weighed on local bourses.
Still, the sustained rally in Colombia now faces a test as technical indicators approach overbought territory and global liquidity ebbs.
Ultimately, the story over the past 24 hours is one of a market supported by strong local flows and positive technicals, but increasingly cautious in the face of external headwinds and stretched valuations.
The fundamental backdrop remains steady, but traders should keep monitoring global liquidity trends and resistance levels for fresh signals.
