Chileans prefer investing in cryptocurrencies over stocks and bonds

Undoubtedly, 2022 was a challenging year for cryptocurrencies.

This digital asset has gained popularity in recent years and suffered major losses worldwide.

The contraction of the economy in recent months due to inflation and high-interest rates caused people to sell their most important assets.

In contrast with what happened in the first weeks of 2023, according to Bloomberg analyst Mike McGlone, Bitcoin is the best-performing asset among cryptocurrencies, with a 20% increase in its price.

According to a study by consulting firm Bain, cryptocurrencies are one of Chileans’ favorite investments for the first time.

One of the reasons for this is the aforementioned liquidity.

This is a great advantage over mutual funds and real estate, which rank first and second.

Like any investment, cryptocurrencies also have risks, as we are in a global market with great challenges and volatile prices.

In fact, the main cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, has lost 65% of its market value in one year.

On the other hand, it is advisable to think in the long term and not just look at daily behavior.

Since its inception in 2013, Bitcoin has experienced at least five bearish cycles and recovered from them after a few months.

What is certain is that the market expects to see more solid signs that we are coming out of this “crypto winter” by the end of 2023.

Chileans will continue to prefer investing in cryptocurrencies for the reasons mentioned above.
