Brazilian agriculture and cattle-raising had record revenues with exports in January.

The revenue from sales to other countries hit US$3.7 billion.

The amount is the highest in the federal government’s historical series, representing a growth of almost 10% over the result for the same month last year.

The information is from a survey conducted by Revista Oeste on the Trade Balance.

Of the Brazilian trade balance results, the highest amount of agricultural and cattle-raising exports in January came from fresh corn.

The grain generated half of the sector’s revenue from the foreign market.

The sales of grain to foreign markets gained a new impulse with the opening of China to Brazilian corn in October.

From 2022 to 2023, revenues from sales of this product in the first month of the year increased by 175%.

Thanks to this increase, the participation in the agricultural and cattle-raising revenue with exports was close to 8%.

In the same month of the previous year, this share was below 4%.

In 2023, corn’s share in the country’s grain harvest should close at 40%.

Together with soy, this crop leads Brazilian agribusiness.
