On Monday, the balance reported 65,487 deaths and 1,623,284 confirmed cases as a result of the pandemic.

The lethality rate (number of deaths by total cases) stood at four percent. The mortality rate (number of deaths per 100,000 inhabitants) reached 31.8. The incidence of Covid-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants is 794.

According to the Ministry of Health, Brazil ranks second in the world in both deaths and infections, behind only the United States. According to the Johns Hopkins University global map, the United States counts 2,980,906 infections and 131,248 lives lost since the start of the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health’s daily figures are lower on Sundays and Mondays due to restrictions on reporting teams at municipal and state secretariats, and higher on Tuesdays, when there is an increase in the number of records that have accumulated as a result.
