Uruguay’s Punta del Este hosts the most important skydiving show in the Americas

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – The Punta del Este Hercules Big Ways event gathered more than 200 skydivers from different countries this week to put on an impressive show in the skies of the Uruguayan coast.

Skydivers from the United States, Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Poland, France, Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay participated in this event that began on Monday, February 14, and ends on Friday, February 18. Participants parachute in different stages and locations.

It is an incredible spectacle that surprises and delights the public of Punta del Este, who come in large numbers to see the amazing figures of the parachutists, who are also an attraction themselves, as there are 80-year-olds who demonstrate their experience in this discipline.

The jumps and demonstrations are performed from a height of almost 5,000 meters in a Hercules aircraft of the Uruguayan Air Force. At sunset, the place chosen for the exhibition is the area “La Mano”, Parada 1 of the Brava de Punta del Este.

The organizers explained that the number of jumps will depend on weather conditions and will be carried out in groups of 20 to 25 people, divided according to their particular skills.

“Hercules Big Ways” is a trendsetter and has positioned itself as the most important skydiving event in Uruguay and the region. The event began last October and has been classified by the Ministry of Tourism and the Maldonado City Council as being of tourist and sporting interest.

Enrique Antía, the mayor of Maldonado, described the event as “beautiful, different, attractive and a way to promote the destination.”

Martín Laventure, the General Director of Tourism of the Municipality of Maldonado, described this first edition as another attraction and show that “will make headlines worldwide and position Punta del Este even more as a destination of the highest international level.”
