This 2023 the presidential elections will be held in Argentina. Half of the Chamber of Representatives and a third of the Senate will also be renewed. In addition, 21 provinces are elected governor and head of government in the City of Buenos Aires, added to the municipal elections.

While defining its candidates, the ruling coalition, the Frente de Todos, has one central objective clear: to achieve a second term. For its part, the main opposition force, Juntos por el Cambio, will aim to consolidate or improve its performance in the 2021 legislative elections, although it must first resolve its own internal one.

Behind them appear in most polls liberal forces such as the one headed by Javier Milei (La Libertad Avanza), members of federal Peronism, and the left, which must also define its candidates.

To reach the Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory Primaries (PASO) in August, there are several steps that must be taken by the forces that are going to compete in the elections. The National Electoral Chamber (CNE) will confirm in March the final dates of each instance.

Some of the dates are already set by law. For example, the general ones must be the on the fourth Sunday of October immediately prior to the end of the mandates. In 2009, with the electoral reform that approved the PASO, it determined the following date: the PASO elections must be held on the second Sunday of August of the year in which the general elections provided for in article 53 of the National Electoral Code are held.

The incorporation after the mandatory presidential debates, determined that there must be two instances of debates to be held. The debates will take place within twenty (20) and up to seven (7) days prior to the date of the election.

The primaries that define the next president of the Nation will be flavored by elections to governor in those provinces that resolved to unfold their calendar to the national one.
