Bolsonaro alters poverty criteria to include more families in Brazil Aid

RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - Under the decree, families with monthly per capita income of up to R$100 (US$18) are now considered to be in extreme poverty, compared to the R$89 in the 2018 decree; for families considered to be in poverty, the amount has changed to R$200, compared to R$178 before.

With the change, the number of families covered by "Auxílio Brasil" is expanded. According to the General Secretariat of the Planalto Palace, the values will apply to the November 17 payment . . .
