Brazil: Protesters block access to Viracopos Airport
On the morning of this Friday, the 25th, demonstrators blocked the Santo Dumont highway, which gives access to Viracopos Airport, in Campinas, state of São Paulo, one of the busiest in the country.
According to images posted on Twitter, the group placed wooden obstacles to prevent vehicle traffic. The images also show a long line of trucks.
“Anyone from the Viracopos region, go there and see if it’s true…Don’t leave the guys alone!”
In this video, the author of the recording says that cars, motorcycles, ambulances and vehicles with live cargo are being allowed to pass, using the roadside.

The road is the only access to the terminal, being the connection between the interchange of Santos Dumont Highway (SP-75) and Miguel Melhado Campos Highway (SP-324) to Viracopos.
In a note, the Campinas Municipal Development Company (Emdec) stated that traffic is congested, but flowing, and only trucks are being prevented from continuing their journey.
The avenue is not within the scope of the Federal Highway Police (PRF), and the Military Police are already on site, according to the corporation.
Truck driver protests began after the second round of elections on 30 October. They had been closed on November 8th. However, with a decision by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to block accounts of 43 companies and individuals that would be financing the demonstrations, truck drivers returned to interdict highways on Thursday 17.
On the last day 22, however, this new wave of demonstrations ended.
