Boric will persecute truckers who started a strike against him
The Government of Chile has invoked this Wednesday a security law to deal with the strike of truckers who have continued to demonstrate on the roads, after rejecting the Executive’s proposal to end a strike that began on Monday.
The Minister of the Interior and Security, Carolina Tohá, has confirmed that they have made the decision to prosecute – through the State Security Law – criminally the truckers who maintain the blockades in various parts of the country.
“It is not acceptable, we will not tolerate it. That is why the Government has decided that it is going to invoke the State Security Law, as is appropriate in cases like this. The decision has already been made,” explained the minister, according to statements collected by ‘BioBioChile’.

“In all these hours various additional efforts have been sustained, instead of advancing towards a solution to this problem, what some of the groups that signed the agreement have done is put forward new demands, demands totally disproportionate to the reality of the country,” she detailed.
The Confederation of Transportistas Fuerza del Norte of the country began an indefinite strike on Monday in protest of high fuel prices, as well as insecurity on the roads, after three months ago the truckers asked the Minister of Finance to end the rise of the prices.
